The Bear has origins as far back as the 12th Century.

Probably the best known as being the inn where they changed the horses on the mail run from Cardiff to Swansea. During the 17th Century Napoleon's troops were held in the ‘Bear Pit' en route to London!!

Nowadays, the hotel is famed for it's fine home cooked food, friendly atmosphere and good ale. The hotel is on the main high street of the beautiful town of Cowbridge. This small quaint market town boasts some fabulous shops, lingering walks around the Roman wall and some of the most beautiful town houses.

The Mackintosh Golf Course, Cottrell Park.

The Mackintosh course, is named after Alfred Donald Mackintosh of Mackintosh the 28th Chief of Clan Mackintosh and Chief of Clan Chattan, who resided at Cottrell during the 19 th and 20 th Centuries.

The course provides 6,407 challenging yards off the white tees and has been designed around the original features of the rolling parkland, including a Roman Motte.

This championship course has been selected for a number of Welsh Golf Union and Welsh Ladies Golf Union events as well as County Matches, which is indeed a compliment to a course so young.

The Mackintosh course will test golfers of all standards to the best of their abilities.

The National Golf Course, Vale Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort.

At 7,413 yards off the championship tees - it's one of the longest golf courses outside of the USA. Golf World magazine rates its 16th hole as one of the top 10 par 4s in UK golf.

It boasts some of the UK's finest scenery, a mixture of mature wooded areas, wide and narrow fairways and vast water and bunker features, all set in the spectacular countryside of Wales.

A course designed to be a challenging test for even the lowest of handicaps with the 2nd hole being the longest par 5 in Wales.

The Bear in Cowbridge was the ideal place for us to have a few drinks after our rounds of golf, it was actually quite lively on the Friday and Saturday.

Cottrell Park was the ideal starting point for us, not too difficult but well worth playing. The National at the Vale was exactly how you described it to me - think about how you play your tee shots. A great way to finish our tour.
