Celtic Golf Vacations - Beaches Hotel, Prestatyn, North East Wales.

The Beaches Hotel overlooks Prestatyn's Barkby Beach. Originally built as a Yacht Club, and later a Golf Club, the building includes the original sea wall. It literally sits on the beach, feeling more like a landbound cruise ship.

The Beaches Hotel has now been transformed, into a friendly, comfortable, home from home for all visitors to Prestatyn.

From the spacious, relaxing reception lounge they have a lift to all three floors which also provides easy access to the Captain's Table Restaurant and their Promenade Bar and it's outside patio area on the first floor, which looks out over the beach to the Irish Sea.

All rooms have been lovingly rejuvinated with the fresh, clean colours of the beach.

Prestatyn Golf course.

This magnificent championship links course is the most northerly course in Wales. It enjoys a temperate climate and its seaside location ensures that golfers can play the greens all year round on superb turf.

The stunning course, welcoming clubhouse, breathtaking scenery and challenges like no other, combine to provide for exceptional golfing and socialising. The present Championship course at The Prestatyn Golf Club was established back in 1905 and has gained in popularity and repute ever since and is now one of the most respected.

Aside from being one of the most striking golf courses in northern Wales it is also one of the longest, as it stretches to nearly 7, 000 yards from its championship tees. This is a course for all seasons and standards of player, offering a memorable examination of a player's golfing standard. The prevailing south-westerly winds are a feature and a low shot is often a very useful addition to the player's repertoire.

The 18th - Home at Last - provides a grandstand finish to the clubhouse.

Maesdu (Llandudno).

You can be sure of a warmer welcome at Llandudno’s Maesdu course than that received by a group of Norwegians in the year 1098 AD.

They came by sea an had on their minds that which couldn’t be compared with golf. The bloody battle of Deganwy ensued and the ground upon which they fought was named Maesdu (black field). More than 800 years later the same terrain was eyed with less belligerent intent by Llandudno Council who allocated the land for a golf course.

Although Llandudno already possessed the excellent North Wales links course, they were keen to encourage tourism. They achieved more than that because Maesdu became one of Britain’s top professional venues in the 1950’s and 1960’s regularly hosting the famous Penfold Tournament.
